Türkiye Revises Bread Regulation
On April 13, 2026, Türkiye notified through WTO/SPS communication (G/SPS/N/TUR/158) a draft amendment to the Turkish Food Codex Communiqué on Bread and Bread Products (2012/2). The draft explicitly prohibits the use of roasted malt flour, roasted chickpea flour, and dark malt extracts, as well as other coloring and flavoring ingredients that produce brown or black coloration in bread and related products. The new regulation is scheduled to enter into force on July 10, 2026, with a transition period until December 31, 2026.
